Types of Temporary Status

TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE STATUS (TPS)

When the Secretary of Homeland Security grants TPS to a country, the intentions are generally to protect foreign nationals from dangerous conditions in their country of origin.
HUMANITARIAN PAROLE
Parole allows an individual who may be inadmissible or otherwise ineligible for admission into the United States to be in the United States for a temporary period for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. You may apply for humanitarian parole if you have a compelling emergency and there is an urgent humanitarian reason or significant public benefit to allowing you to temporarily enter the United States. Anyone can file an application for humanitarian parole.
UNITING FOR UKRAINE
Uniting for Ukraine provides a pathway for displaced Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members who are outside the United States to come to the United States and stay temporarily for a two-year period of parole.
